Explore the coastline with sandy beaches and sheltered coves drive to historic Exeter or Plymouth walk on rugged Dartmoor or enjoy attractions which include horse riding golf fishing numerous National Trust properties and gardens Crealy Country Park Buckfast Abbey and Paignton Zoo to name but a few. In the evenings relax on the outdoor seating or visit one of many local well-known family pubs serving food. Stabling: the farm benefits from a paddock with stabling and hard-standing for the parking of a horse trailer. These facilities may be hired through direct negotiation with the owners. Outside: shared gardens. Shared utility room: laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers (coin operated). Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen electric and heating included. Newton Abbot is a market town in Devon, England. Located on the River Teign it is not far from Kingswerswell, Combeinteignhead, Ipplepen, Chudleigh, Marldon, and Bishopsteignton and is one of over 300 towns and villages in Devon in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest designated cities are Exeter (population 106,772), Plymouth (population 243,795), and Wells (which has a population of 10,406 according to the 2001 Census).
The town grew rapidly in the 1800s because of its importance as the locomotive works for the South Devon Railway. This continued until the 20th century until the works were closed in 1981. Newton Abbot is also known for its racecourse which holds a number of important races. With its location near the coast and in the midst of an area of outstanding natural beauty Newton Abbot represents a great place to base a holiday in this region.
